DANGEROUS GOODS BY SEA

Dangerous Goods By Sea:
Full Accept (Initial)

This course is suitable for, but not limited to; Shore-based personnel who pack, dangerous goods. Freight Forwarders and Consolidators.

Come along to this course and learn how to interpret and apply the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) code and Australian Maritime Orders (AMO) to shipments of hazardous material being sent by sea. Full compliance with the Code and Orders, plus an understanding of the concepts behind them, will ensure the safety of maritime shipping (and of course the marine environment), and ensure that international laws are not broken.


​This course is available to complete in the classroom or as computer based training. It has been designed to provide comprehensive training in the theory and practical aspects of shipping dangerous goods by sea. It examines the IMDG Code and provides you with a systematic approach to packaging and documenting a hazardous shipment for sea transport. You’ll have plenty of follow-up exercises to reinforce the knowledge acquired.

Full accept refresher

Personnel who have completed an AMSA approved, full accept course based on the current IMDG Code.

Come along and learn what has changed between the current International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) code and Australian Marine Orders (MO) and the new one.  We remind participants of the IMDG requirements and highlight what will change in the new edition and how they need to be applied.

Dangerous Goods by Sea:
Awareness

If you are involved with handling, storing, carrying or any other aspect of transporting dangerous goods by sea, (other than packing, marking, labeling, placarding, documenting, loading or unloading CTU’s)

Come along and learn how to interpret and apply the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) code and Australian Marine Orders (MO) to shipments of hazardous materials being transported by sea.  Full compliance with the Code, plus an understanding of the concepts behind it, will ensure the safety of maritime transport (and of course the environment), and ensure that Australian and international laws are not broken.

Dangerous Goods by Sea:
Cargo Transport Unit (CTU) pack/accept

If you are involved with the packing of Dangerous Goods in a CTU or loading and unloading of vessels, then this course is for you.  It is ideal for warehouse and wharf personnel who do not prepare shipments of DG.

This course is designed specially for personnel who load dangerous goods (DG) into Cargo Transport Units (CTU) and/or load and unload vessels.  It is based on the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) code, and Australian Marine Order (MO), syllabus requirements for both General Awareness and Function Specific training for such personnel

Transporting Batteries by Sea
(incorporating Lithium & Sodium batteries)

This course is suitable for people involved with the packaging, documentation or control of commercial shipments of batteries, including Lithium batteries & Sodium Batteries, sent by sea.

If you send batteries by sea, particularly Lithium batteries or cells, then this is the course for you. This course assists shippers of batteries, including Sodium Cells, Lithium Cells and Batteries, to interpret and apply the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Dangerous Goods Code to shipments being sent by sea domestically and internationally. Full compliance with the Regulations and an understanding of the concepts behind them will ensure the safety of all who travel and protect shippers from unknowingly committing unlawful acts. This also covers packaging, marking, labelling and documentation for road transport in Australia.

Courses stay active for 2 years and must be completed within this time frame. Refunds will not be given after the course in no longer active.
